The 2008 Summer Olympics

So.... Is anyone watching? I really liked the opening ceremonies. The preformers had to have trained for a very long time to pull that off.

Lets try to keep this focused on the events please. I'm looking forward to fencing, I hope NBC shows some of it.

Omg, did you watch the gymnastics? Most of them fucked up really badly, it as quite shameful tbh.

Still love watching it, tight leotards innit .

But yeah I shall be watching, martial arts type stuff, all the gymnasticy sorta stuff, volleyball, badminton. Might dip into odd bits here and there.

Not a huge fan tbh.

The Womens water polo match between the US and China was actually pretty exciting. It went down to the wire with the US winning.

I hope they actually show some fencing this time around.

Swimming was live tonight in which the United States Men's and Women's won several gold medals in a row, in addition to several silver and bronze medals. Michael Phelps was first place in two events only 55 minutes apart of one another and set a world record. Amazing.

GO USA!

All I want Canada to do this Olympics is win 3 rowing events. I don't care which. Just three. We're a dominant rowing country, but when it comes to the Olympics, we die off instead of staying pace and sticking with the Danes and whatnot. It's almost embarrassing how anti-clutch my country is in major international competition. Perdita Felicien can't run this Olympics, stumbled last olympics. Jeremy Wotherspoon, arguably the best longtrack speedskater in modern history, yet he fell in the 2002 and kinda choked in the 2006 olympics with terrible starts off the blocks.

I mean, I feel for Canadian athletes and their perennial underachieving, because all I do is watch the TV. They're the ones who make a career of this and carry the weight of a country on their shoulders. I just...I wish we could just live up to the hype. Last summer olympics, our mens' eights in rowing went in #1 in the world, and were atrocious 5th(well, not ATROCIOUS, but considering they had mopped the floor with the competition for months and months beforehand....). This happens all the time here in Canada. When we held the Montreal olympics, we didn't even win a Gold medal! 5 Silver, Six Bronze. Dreadful for a hosting country, and ever since, we've had this uncanny plague of bad luck/performance.

/rant

The USA men's swimming 4x100m relay was amazing. Did the US anchor switch to butterfly at the end or something. He was suddenly just going all out and wailing on the water to propel himself forward.

I don't even want to watch it, after all the shit China has done to make this thing happen. It makes me angry thinking about it.

Kinda creepy since the Chinese team looked like they were 13. (Yes I know you have to be 16 to compete)

The fencing is already over at least the women's is. USA took the gold, silver, and bronze. The US is doing pretty good so far. I was hoping to check out the martial arts competitions but I think they're hosting those online which sucks because i don't have a regular computer at the moment.

God yeah I thought that! Watching the gymnastics and I thought they were like the underage cheerleaders or something.
Quite disturbing...

Yeah, I saw the winners get interviewed. Oddly enough, I'm getting tired of Swimming already. I'm suprised to realize that I love Water polo though.

Not really. Every day I wake up, its the same thing over again. However, my car is getting slower and I cant figure out why- maybe that has something to do with the end?

The US government lost my trust with the wire-tapping scandal. Ill side with Google.

Honestly though, I think the US government lost my trust long before the wire tapping. Perhaps it was when they forced their allegiance on Jose Marti and then snatched up the Philippines.

Or perhaps it was when they tarred and feather those loyalists. That was before there was a US government though, wasnt it?

Seems they never had my trust.
