Gundam SEED/ Gundam SEED DESTINY/ Gundam SEED Astray

I couldn't help myself any longer an seeing as a thread like this hasn't been made here yet (to my knowledge) I think it's time for one. Though Gundam SEED has appeared on Cartoon Network's Toonami and Adult Swim. This will be about more or less relevant content and not "ZOMGWTFBBQ Freedom is teh awsum!" If I catch any of this I will gut you myself.

What I mean by relevant content is discussion of charecters, plotlines and civil debates on issues left open by the anime

Spoiler:(ie. The death of Mwu La Flaga)

and other such things that for arguement's sake anything refering to any plot twist after ep 30

Spoiler:(for reference to place in plot the duel between Kira and Athrun on earth after the killing of Tolle)

will be covered in spoiler tags to prevent whining by n00bs who havent seen up to that point.

I will allow a little spolierage up to ep 30 can be decussed without spoiler tags but after is big plot movements and should be tagged. Most likely if you have watched the CN brodcasts consistantly you whould know just about everything by now because it just closed up about two or so weeks ago. But for those of you that didn't keep up or have prying eyes you have been told and warned so no b*tchy b*tchy.

Also the short manga offshoot (Astray) can allso be decussed here but the same regard must be followed though Astray has nothing to do directly with the SEED series and is an spinoff so it wont make much difference if you tag it or not. Also Astray charecters will not be listed in the charecter bios because I haven't read it and nor have time to.

With that said here go the charecters and prologue ...

In the year Cosmic Era 71 (C.E. 70) a war has started between two sides. The armies of the naturals (unmodifed humans) the Earth Allience otherwise known as EA or OMNI forces and the coordinators (geneticly modified humans) the Zodiac Allience Freedom Treaty or ZAFT. The war started due to the "bloody valentine" massacure; the nuking of one of the coordinator's space colonies or PLANTs named Junis 7. The war has come to a stalemate after a years time with neather side showing any sign of stopping.

Our story starts in Helopolis a 'neutral' colony where our lead charecter, Kira Yamato has been living a peaceful life. Little does he know that the colony has been secreatly been constructing the EA's newest and most top of the line weapons. The warship Archangel and the five G-weapons or Gundams.

The space forces of ZAFT have discovered this and infiltrate the colony in stealth amoung them a young elite solider Athrun Zala who's mother was killed in the Junis-7 bombing and he also happens to be Kira's most closest and best friend. ZAFT carries through with it's mission wich is to bomb Archangel and steal the allience's new moble suits. After many explosions and confusion our friend Kira; scared and confused encounters Murrue Ramius an EA officer who is in charge of the opeartion of removing the new weapons to a different loaction unaware of ZAFT's blitzkrieg untill it was too late.

She takes Kira hostage and they stand upon the fifth and final moble suit of the allience GAT-X105 codenamed "Strike". Athrun encounters the two and attacks them only to discover his best friend or someone resembleing his best friend is his target. Befuddeled and avoiding the EA officers pistol Athrun takes control of one of the four units GAT-X303 or "Aegis". Kira and his captor fall back into the cockpit of "Strike" where Kira soon takes the controls and starts following his destiny.

Charecters: (I am only listing charecters that are relevant to the first episode any that come after that relevant or not will not be listed also giving credit to GundamOfficial.com for borrowing their charecter sketches)

Kira Yamato

Age: 16

Genetic Divide : Coordinator

Appearence:

Short bio: Kira is a kind person and is well liked by those who know him. Not the confrontational type, Kira will often keep his feelings to himself. This leads him to many different emotional relevations throughout the series. He also tends to catch slack from naturals and coordinators alike for sideing with the EA at the time of Heliopolis attack.


Athrun Zala

Age: 16

Genetic Devide : Coordinator

Appearence :

Short bio: Athrun is allmost a carbon copy of Kira in many respects. After his mother died in the Junis-7 disaster he joined ZAFT and became an elite pilot or 'red coat' and was assigned to the Kluze Squad with 3 other young men. Athrun comes to an uneven devide after finding out that his best friend has joined the opposite side for whatever reason. He becomes torn between his duty to ZAFT and his friendship to Kira.


Murrue Ramius

Age: 27

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: A mid level officer in the Earth Alliance, Murrue is a level headed and fair individual though she captures Kira more out of nessessity then malace. Due to most of Archangel's commanding brass getting picked off during the colony skirmish she is forced to take the captian's chair of the prototype warship. Keeping the safty of the crew in mind over some more detailed military tactics and often becomeing a headache for Archangel's number two ; Ensign Badgiruel


Natarle Badgiruel

Age: 25

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:


Pictured in EA uniform

Short bio: The brains behind the warships cannons and missiles. Natarle comes from a long line on military brass. She is strictly bound to the rules so much that she should have a manual attached to her somewhere. Her tactical prowess leads her to many vicious headbutts with Murrue often leading to her breaking command and doing what she thinks is tacticly sound with less regard for the crew.


Mwu La Flaga

Age: 28

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Mwu is what most whould consider a fun guy to be with. An ace moble armor pilot; Mwu's being orphaned by his assigned vessel during the attack on Heliopolis brings him abord Archangel. He becomes a support for the crew and tries to loosen the tension around him as much as possible.


Cagalli Yula Attha

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:


Dressed as in first appearence

Short bio: The daughter of an influential statesman from a neutral country. All that is really known about Cagalli is that she snuck off to spy on potential activities at Heliopolis.


Yzak Jule

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: A gifted solider; Yzak is part of the Kluze squad and the pilot of the ill-gotten Gundam GAT-X102 "Duel". Yzak has a tendency to get heated in battle. Especially towards Athrun who contiunally tries to capture the "Strike" unit after he had an altercation with it awarding him the scar on his face.


Dearka Elsman

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: More or less the easy goer in the Kluze squad. Dearka iisnt as hotheaded as Yzak and takes a more sarcastic approch to his position as the pilot of GAT-X103 "Buster". Dearka is more of a support person in battle then a front line agresser wich to "Buster's" long range armaments serve him well.


Nicol Aramafi

Age: 15

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: The youngest of the group. Nicol is a senstive person who is only fighting to do the minimal requirement wich is protect PLANT. He pilots GAT-X207 "Blitz" The fact that he sympathises with the Naturals doesn't earn him points with Yzak or Deraka. He's also a musician wich leads more to his passive nature.


Raw Le Kluze

Age: Unknown

Genetic Divide: Unknown

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: Commander of the squad that bears his name, Raw is a charasmatic natured person. He is somewhat of a ghost and is highly valued by the upper command structure of ZAFT. Though his past dealings with Mwu La Flaga lead to intrugue during their duels.


Sai Argyle

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

One of Kira's classmates from collage. Sai is one of the controlers of the Combat Information Center abord Archangel. He is unphased by Kira's genetic position and still trys to help in anyway he can. He is also betrothed to Frey Allistar.


Miliaria Haww

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:


Pictured in EA Uniform

Short bio: Miliaria serves as the Air/Space boss for Archangel's small armament of Moble Suits and other units. She's hardworking and very much a intricate part of the warship's functioning crew. She is also involed with Tolle Koenig.


Kuzzey Buskirk

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Kuzzey has a small prejudice towards Coordinators wich causes him to loose trust in Kira after he learns of his default. Nonetheless, he follows the troop and undtakes duties on the EA warship.


Tolle Koenig

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Tolle is probably the only person closest to Kira aside from Athrun and the first to stand up for him when it is discovered he is a coordinator. He takes up the co-pilots spot on the bridge of Archangel.


Frey Allistar

Age:15

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Frey is the epitome of the popular highschool girl. She's got the looks and the body and rides the coatails of her father who is a top EA official. Frey doesn't take kindly to coordinators for the sheer fact shes mortified of them. This leads her to be under strain when around Kira. She also has a killer manipulative nature wich means trouble for Kira down the road.

This will also be about the sequel to Gundam SEED; Gundam SEED DESTINY wich is still airing on japaneese television stations and isn't even available on DVD as of yet. Unless you can read chinese fluently. Pretty much the only way it is available redily is though underground fansubs. SEED DESTNIY takes place 2 years after the conclusion of SEED and introduces new charecters.

Hoo boy, here we go with the charecters and prologue again ...

In C.E. 73 two years after the final battle of what is now called the Junis-7 war Head ORB Representive Cagalli Yula Attha flocks to meet with new PLANT Chairman Gilbert Dulindal regarding ZAFT's armastice at its Armory 01 PLANT. Little did she know that an EA special forces team had infiltrated the PLANT and was about to make off with 3 new ZAFT Gundams. The only one who will be able to stop them Shinn Asuka suits up for battle in the mid-air/space assembling Gundam ZGMF-X56S "Impulse" and starts forth the eventual pull of war all over again. Athrun and friends are sucked back into the vortex of war wondering if the'll be able to make it out again.

Shinn Asuka

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Short bio: Shinn is a refugee of war. His parents and sister were killed during the last war so he has no family. He acts alot like a spoiled child and often disobeys orders that restrict his style. His still a good kid just a little stubborn.


Athrun Zala (AKA: Alex Dino)

Age: 18

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Short bio: After the war Athrun went back to ORB with Cagalli and became a bodyguard under a false name so he whouldnt be bothered so much by people if they didnt know who he really was. However, after the Armory 01 altercation his cover is blown and his wayward mind returns him to PLANT looking for anwsers wich eventually leads to him rejoining ZAFT. The new chairman makes him part of a organzation in ZAFT known as FAITH wich frees him from chains of command and allows him to make the decisons. With ZGMF-X23S "Savior" under his control he ventures backout into the reignited war to look for answers.


Cagalli Yula Attha

Age: 18

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Cagalli took her fathers place as head emir of the United emirites of ORB. She tries so hard to run her country evenly and fair but due to the recent events the world grows restless and she is unable to stop it wich bothers her a great deal.


Gilbert Duilndal

Age: early 30's

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearance:


Dressed in casual clothing

Short bio: The newly elected chairmen of PLANT. Gilbert gives the impression of a fair-minded experienced man. He manages to talk Athrun right into a ZAFT uniform and "Saviors" cockpit. He also manages to quel the agressions of his countrymen during the beginning of the ordeal.


Neo Lorrenoke

Age: Unknown

Genetic Divide: Unknown

Appearence:

Short bio: Not much is known about Neo except that he controls the EA specal forces group "Phantom Pain" and command the new EA warship Girty Lue.


Talia Gladys

Age: 29

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: The new ZAFT warship Minerva is under Talia's command. She is the commanding officer of Shinn and the rest of the young soliders. Talia is a strong leader and commands with the statue of a ture officer.


Lunamaria Hawke

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:

Short bio: Luna is an avarage pilot and is often good at long range combat. She pilots the ZGMF-1000/AI "Zaku Warrior" and favors the highpowered gunner cannon. Luna is a bit of a MS groupie and can be seen fawning over the Moble Suits and weaponary. Also being the equivalant of a mother figure for Shinn as she can be found scolding him quite often. She also has a crush on Athrun; her superior officer.


Rey Za Burrel

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:


Pictured in ZAFT uniform

Short bio: Rey is a good example of a person who thrives with military directive. Piloting the ZGMF-1001/M "Blaze Zaku Phantom" Rey is a good pilot and doesn't often let the enemy get the drop on him wich Luna has done in droves. He also seems to have a connection with the charman.


Meylin Hawke

Age: 15

Genetic Divide: Coordinator

Appearence:

Short bio: Meylin is Luna's younger sister and serves as Minerva's traffic controler. Very shy and reserved, Meylin whould be the type of girl who whould trip over how to tell a potental boy that she may like him. She lacks a normal level of agression and is uber kind.


Sting Oakley

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Sting is the lead dog in the Phantom Pain team. He sees his sucess in ZGMF-X24S "Chaos" as an insurance to his continueing to live. He shares a common care in keeping his team about him.


Stellar Lousser

Age: 15

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Though she looks and acts like a airheaded blonde from time to time. Dont let it fool you Stellar is quite a lethal lady. When she gets in the cockpit of ZGMF-X88S "Gaia" she takes no prisioners and mows everyting down in her path.


Auel Neider

Age: 16

Genetic Divide: Natural

Appearence:

Short bio: Auel is basicly along for the ride. He does tend to get upset when people treat him like an idiot when piloting ZGMF-X31S "Abyss" and gets aggravated when he doesn't feel challeneged.

Righty where to start i wonder...well i've seen all the Gundam Seed Episodes and up to Episode 24 on Gundam Seed Destiny.

One thing has bugged me about Gundam Seed, can only coordinators have the "Seed" when there eyes go completly one colour and then there pretty much unbeatable, i was just wanding because Kira and Athrun have it and are both coordinators while

Spoiler:Cagalli is a natural and has the seed in the last few episodes when she fights in her Gundam, so i thought that maybe shes a coordinator also, seeing as she as the seed and is Kira's sister

Ahh I was tipped off by that too

Spoiler:It was offically announced that the SEED ability can occur in both naturals and coordinators. It's just uber rare for naturals and Cagalli is indeed a natural. Its just that it's more common in coordinators as the ability can be manipulated easier. Also keep in mind Kira was supposed to be the 'ultimiate coordinator'.

24 in SEED DESTINY ... trying to remeber about where that's at. I'm up to 28 so ahh

Yeah, thats where i'm at the moment, and yeah i'm looking forward to the newer episodes, i would of seen all the latest by now, if i didn't take my few weeks break from anime in general. I was gaming, i can't seem to do both in the same and sometimes weeks.

Just watched the first OVA of the Special edition of Gundam SEED. Wich is basicly a compression of all 50 eps into 3 hour and a half OVAs. I didn't think that they could do it but ... wow.

I dont recommend it for someone who hasn't see the series all the way through. But has extra stuff they skiped in they didn't show in the series ...

Spoiler:Like for one Kira and Frey get quite friendly. And it was enough for them to cut it out of the series brodcast. Its not overly graphic but you get the idea pretty clear.

Sorry for double posting but What are the names of the OVA exactly i've been trying to find them...and i get The Empty Battlefield and The Distant Dawn are those the OVAs? it doesn't say

Hai and the 3rd is on DVD and really hard to find the other two may be broken up into 2 parts each and then 3rd OVA is called "The Rumbling Universe"

*bump* heh heh, sorry for a double post but its been a while since a post in this thread, anyway, do you all notice how Gundam Seed/Destiny takes a lot of its ideas from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, like the mobile suits Zaku, Gouf etc and also the "two" races ie Oldtype and Newtype = Blue Cosmos and Coordinator's. The whole point of me bringing this up is do you think the series will go on as long as the original Mobile Suit Gundam? and do you think it'll be good to do so?

I think if they keep going how they are now, a really long series like the original would be great.

Ya i know that, what i meant is like after gundam seed destiny they'll be another one following on called something else, like with the original that went Mobile Suit Gundam, The 08TH MS Team, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, Zeta Gundam, Chars Counterattack and then finally ending with Gundam F91.

08th is a side story alot like 0080 was so it really doesn't count as a sequel. And your forgetting about Astray. I dont think the'll push another sequel unless they end it so there has to be a sequel or really well. I'm not saying that lightening can't strike twice but at the rate they are going right now peopleare mixed about the series future.

Spoiler:Yup that recent episode was really good though, i actually wanted the Alliance to win that fight, and they did put up a great battle, kind of got ruined when Destiny and Legend turned up though, the Alliance got beaten too easily because of that. I hate the way Shinn is stupid enough not to notice what hes doing, damn that rey.
