The project is finished. (http://chrono.ocremix.org/)

I went over to Overclocked Remix on my occasional visit and was happy to discover that "Chrono Symphonic" has finally been completed. It's a 25-track project, by 18 artists, on a score to a fan-script of a movie of Chrono Trigger that'll never be made. So, basically, it's a lot of tracks remixed and blended for a more story-built flow rather than a background music flow.

I've listened to the whole thing and it's very good. Tracks 6 (the early part) and 8 waver, but only because they lack the subtlety necessary for the themes they're using.

Otherwise, it's an excellent project. The themes from the game are heavly expanded on for the most part, being used for a wide range of tones. I like how one of the main themes is used as a sort of echoing resonance in the 21st and 23rd tracks. Track 22 is very good (it represents the battle against Queen Zeal) in how it breaks away from remixing past themes and instead blends a couple Zeal-related themes with a battle theme to become something new.

My favorites tracks 18 and 19, as they both work with the Undersea Palace theme in ways I've waited a long time to here, one with a rush of heavy string work and a chorus, while the other is pretty true to the original, except with better quality instruments.

It's worth a look if you're a fan of the music of Chrono Trigger.

Listened to a couple of them, pretty good stuff (specificaly, track 19 and 23). The others will have to wait for me (crap of internet) but I will surely download the rest as soon as I can. While I am not a great fan of Chrono Trigger's music I can still say this is something really good. Good find Esc.

This reminds me to the FFVII Philarmonic Suit Jeremy Robson (http://jeremy.narphonax.com/index2.html) did... and his FF Tactics arrangement is one of my favorites.

I wish there were more of this kind of stuff, were they make complete works with some originality and not just a simple remix of a single track. So far I only know of these, the "Time & Space" project (of which I only liked a few) and the Xenogears "Light" arrangements.

Actually, if you look more closely you'll see that many of those tracks are based on multiple themes, and one of the last ones even takes some from Chrono Cross.

Brings back good memories about a class game.

Someone should make an Anime series of the game, a number of other games have anime series now. Although there's a Chrono Trigger Anime OVA which is very short and doesn't have any Chrono Trigger fact to it.

Sweet

I wonder why seeing that so many people like Chrono Trigger, Square won't exploit that trademark (not exclusively on the form of a videogame, there are other ways)... remember Chrono Trigger Resurrection? that was the first time I ever saw people spend it's time on making a whole new game out from a game they liked, too bad Square stopped them.
