Few of you probably know about this, but there's a project going on at OCRemix called Chrono Symphonic, where a number of mixers have gotten together to compose a sort of score for a non-existant Chrono Trigger movie.
The tracks have been good mostly, but what I was most concerned about was To Far Away Times. The composer was sticking it to essentially a piano solo, which really took away a lot from the piece.
Now he's orchestrated it a bit and Pixietrix has aided her voice and lyrics to the project. It's not released yet, but I wanted other people to hear it too before I forget about it. I think it's spectacular:
"To Far Away Times" as composed by Rue and performed by Pixietrix (http://www.reubenkee.com/music/remixes/To%20Far%20Away%20Times.mp3)

I swear, OCRemix gets insulted too much for their strict rules in what they put up. It's to make sure that great quality remixes are found on their site, and not just novice works. These guys are great at what they do, such as Ailsean, AE, kLuTz, djpretzel, Star Salzman, and the ever amazing AmIEvil(who made my fav remix to date, "Death On the Snowfield" a mix of Terra's theme in FF6).
The mix you posted was excellently done. I'm a piano fan, and I can't help but like anything done with the instrument, but it seemed quite well done. I remember the original track, and I think it would be bare with only the piano, but it holds its own with the vocals, and the rest of the instruments were well placed. The original is a fairly upbeat and quick song, and a single piano wouldn't work too well. I would initially envision it re-done with a bassline from the start, with probably an electric or acoustic guitar(depending on the tuning) for the higher pitched spots. Maybe a piano in the back, and some other stuff. Then again, I like weird varieties, and I wouldn't mind an army of xylophones and accordians in there, maybe a bagpipe to replace something :P
Great job on it though. I just hope they work on it a little more. It really has the potential to be better with some tweaking.

This is the final version, if I read the forum correctly. To be honest, I made that same critique; but since they were going for a different mood, they didn't add the bassline. Honestly, this is such a major improvement over what they had that I can't complain.
But there is an acoustic version of "To Far Away Times" on OCRemix on the site itself, so you might want to check that out.

Zomg I heart Ocremix. I love all their Chrono Trigger Songs although they have like 30 just on the Zeal song. Hahah I have 2 hours of the same song.... Lockedge if you like Death on the Snowfield go listen to Terra in black. Djpretzel himself said at one point that it was the best song on the site o.O. And if you like piano I guess Super Metroid - All the world in one girl. It got ocremix's best of 2003. The wingless became my hero because of that song !! I wanted to learn how to play the piano cuz of that song...
As for Far Away Times there's a better remix of it on OCremix. The song suddenly changes languages halfway through this version. Then change back.... and where did these lyrics come from? I don't remember this song ever having lyrics... I still enjoy it but there is a better version imo that I enjoy better.

They made up the lyrics. Pixietrix knows Japanese and English.

In a forum topic, but yeah. The boss of the project said it was ready to go and be submitted. There's a bunch of other pieces in the project.
