View Full Version : Game Music Purchasing Website

I'm asking game music enthusiasts for websites that sell game music. I'm asking as when I recently used gamemusic.com, they listed the Dewprism(Threads of Fate) OST as obsolete. This apparently means that it is not being made anymore by the distributor. I want to get a number of websites listed so I can have more options when buying game soundtracks before resorting to bootlegs.

Hmmm....http://www.animecastle.com/catalog/music/game-soundtracks/cat_dewprism-game-soundtracks.html
^_^
I can find ANYTHING online! (though you may have to back order it....if you have problems, tell me. I'll be happy to try again!)
EDIT: I hope you can get it from the link I sent you....I looked some more...the stores all say it's out of stock....
Edit again.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5969878985
I have a good list of websites for game soundtracks but I won't be able to list thyem until I get home.....damn travelling sux!

That seems to be fine. However, how legetimate is that site? I wouldn't want to end up with a bootleg. I don't trust e-bay because my brother ordered off them and they're usually bootlegs. The low price is kind of suspicious. Thanks anyway in advance.
EDIT:Son May?! Geuss I'll have to look around some more...

Hmmm...my friends never had trouble with E-bay but I have heard about a few who did. When I get that list of web-sites I'll check if that soundtrack is there.

www.animenation.com
www.cocoebiz.com
www.soundtrackcentral.com (go to the marketplace and if you desire "obsolete" soundtracks than you could put up a post and hopefully someone would be willing to sell it to you)
www.otaku.com
And if you can't possibly find it anywhere else then either post here or PM me and I'll give you a hook-up I have in Japan who bids on Yahoo Japan and can find and win an auction on practically any game soundtrack you desire. He was awesome in finding me some rare stuff. So let me know and good luck!

Thanks, cloudff7. Didn't find it anywhere but I did post in the market place. Geuss I'll wait and see what happens. If only I had brought it sooner.

With eBay you just need to be smart and know when its a bootleg or not, like the pictures and stuff but with actual anime...you'll never get official ones unless second hand. Not sure about soundtracks though.
you should try Amazon.com they have a load of game and anime soundtracks, mainly imports.

www.japanimation.com (my favourite - got my FFX watch there ^_^)
www.animenation.com
www.animecastle.com
www.animecornerstore.com (always advertised in Newtype. Very good shop)
www.discountanimedvd.com (the name says it all)
www.kikiwai.com
www.animetoxic.com
www.animeinternational.com
www.neko-shop.com (not what you're looking for but fun nonetheless ^_^)
Hmmm.....it would seem that a certain somebody had deleted my favourites folder.....there will be much blood.....unfortunately this is all I can remember. I'll go fishing for some more sites. I had a quick look and they don't seem to have the Dewprism OST, however, there are some nice sites there.

Nothing on the marketplace. Can anyone else offer help? Otherwise it will have to be bootleg.

If you can't find what you want in the english sites I suggest you try the japanese sites....however you're going to have to be able to read ideograms....which is no easy task....my friend managed to order some stuff by using a dictionary, lol. He was that desparate.
There are some programs out there that can translate Hiragana and Katakana into english....the words come out in the wrong order of course (their sentence structure is different) but you get the general idea.

Geuss I'll give that a try before I go bootleg. What sort of payment method would be required? Give me a PM.
EDIT:Thanks Naru, but I'm not sure about japanese sites or how to even find them. I'll try it but probably won't have much luck.

This is more trouble than it's probably worth. I think I found an official release here but it's in a foreign language.

I'm about to give up and go bootleg. Does anyone know about or heard anything about this site?
www.toycup.com
They have a bootleg for $10.
www.toycup.com/deworsoun2cd.html
Looks almost too good to be true. Bootlegs don't even go that cheap but I don't want to spend much on a bootleg and this seems like a good offer. I'll check E-bay but most likely will settle for that bootleg if people don't think it's shady.

Ah, So I'm guessing the guy didn't work out too well? Sorry to hear, ah well, but I haven't heard any of those sites, sorry Omnibreak!

Toycup sell on eBay, and that german site for an official one, it doesn't say anything about being in german, so maybe its fine ya?

Toycup sell on eBay, and that german site for an official one, it doesn't say anything about being in german, so maybe its fine ya?It does look legit judging from the picture. I can't read german though so I have no clue how to order, if they even ship overseas, or anything else. Sorry for the confusion as I posted it without explaining. That is the closest I've come to getting an official copy. Toycup seems fine so I may get the bootleg if there aren't any more replies here.

Well you could use AltaVista Babel Fish (http://babel.altavista.com/) to translate the site into english, and well they should be fine with shipping to where you live.
Edit: Theres a language selector on the site and heres the link to what your looking for in English so you can see how to buy it from the that site LINKY!! (http://www.synsoniq.de/productdetails.php?pid=282&s=name&b=d&typ=1&langchange=2&PHPSESSID=7b05eba19daebb188950bc118c9c4c39)
Double Edit: I quote from site Q: Do you sell bootleg copies? A: No, all CD-R's we offer are licensed copies. All fees will be paid to the composer / producer. So it should be fine, also they accept credit cards.
Hope i've helped mate.

Ah well that proves its an original though, as they get more rare they go up in price a lot. Especially since that site is in europe, more soundtracks and the like are more rare here.

Damn Omnibreak, should have just bought the OST when it was still out!Had my eye on it but didn't have the money. Just when I get the funding to actually buy it, it's gone. Now I'm getting worried that other OSTs will become rare. I'll probably only pay that much for Valkyrie Profile. Which reminds me, I still haven't replaced that bootleg I accidentally got.

There's one unnoficial rule with collecting VGM: If you're going legit, it'll be expensive no matter what, no way around it.

i mainly use these sites:
ebay.com
animenation.com
amazon.com
animecastle.com
japanimation.com
believe it or not, samgoody has a pretty good selection of OST's, but theyre mainly the mainstrteam anime series... if youre looking for something a little different, try any of the sites lsited above.

I'm pretty sure those last two you listed have bootlegs =/ I'd reccomend trying out CDJapan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp), Otaku (http://www.otaku.com) and CocoeBiz (http://www.cocoebiz.com). CocoeBiz has two Yack STs currently, Border Down Vol.2 (The 1st one is currently out of stock) and Majokko de Go Go.
